As always, it gives me great pleasure to introduce our latest issue, and, as usual, we have endeavoured for comprehensive coverage within the scope of time and limits of space. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as we did while conceiving and creating it.
The upbeat tempo in the relations between the European Union (EU) and India could well be felt at the recently concluded summit held in New Delhi. Our feature on the EU and India summit focuses on the strategic partnership that has evolved.
The United Nations—the much criticized but still indispensable watch dog of the world—is celebrating its diamond jubilee this year; this historic event calls for some serious introspection and analysis, which we have attempted to do in our cover story.
For those fascinated about India and her heritage, we have articles highlighting those aspects, including an article on the Indian textile industry—one of the important edifices of India’s manufacturing sector.
Conforming with our scholastic parameters, we have a number of articles contributed by experts in their respective fields.
However, since life’s business is not only about business, our human interest feature on Mohini Giri, a social worker with unrelenting passion for the emancipation of Indian women, will surely inspire. We have also explored the realms of art by touching on some fascinating aspects of the celebrated and controversial painting Guernica by the equally celebrated Pablo Picasso.
There is a lot more in this issue, which I shall leave for you to discover...
