China looks forward to the Narendra Modi-led government for bettering its ties with India. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang congratulated Modi and referred India as a 'natural cooperative partner'.

"China and India are important neighbours, as well as the two largest emerging-market countries in the world," Chinese premier said.

"China-India relations had gone beyond the bilateral scope and are of global and strategic significance. We have always taken the relationship with India as a priority of Chinese diplomacy," he said.

"The peaceful, cooperative and common development of China and India would not only benefit the two peoples, but also be conducive to peace, stability and prosperity in Asia and the world at large," he added.
